R1 brakes - first impressions
Finally got my R1 slotted and drilled rotors on and my ceramic pads installed. Part of me really wishes I had gone with the LS upgrade, but I don't have the wheels for that yet. My 300 came with these garbage 15" wheels on it and I haven't gotten new ones yet.
Anyway, I'm very very happy with my new brakes. Definitely an upgrade in stopping power. I drive semi-aggressively, but I rarely put myself into situations where I need to brake hard. I have tested them in a few scenarios and it's a great upgrade. No smell after braking all the way down a long hill, repeated hot braking is fade free and consistent.
I've never had a car with any good brakes on it, and thus far these have been pretty good. The guy who installed them said he was going to order a set for his Mustang.
Maybe they'll fall apart in 6 months, but right now 500 miles in they are golden.
Now I just need some wheels and some lowering springs and a double din GPS and new bushings and an exhaust and to install my BFI and put some headers on and get new seat covers and replace my headlights and my high beams and my fog lights and my turn signals. No problem!
