considering that most of our driving is done on the street and very rarely on the track (if any at all), i see nothing wrong with megans or any other entry-level brand.

now, if you were a so-called track junkie with a street car posing as a weekend racer, then obviously that will require more than what your standard, run-of-the-mill, entry level coilovers offer/can do.

asking for the best bang for the buck coilovers implies two things: cost and functionality. my understanding of those two factors are that in situations like this i would want to spend the least amount of money and get the most out of what i spend. if that's the case, i think everything in the entry level category works well; it simply comes down to preference.

opinions will vary, but it's important to cut through all the noise being made from brand fanboys and make some sense of what's being said here. i think any choice you make will be fine, regardless of whatever brand you end up purchasing.

^ BC's biggest advantage over megans for "street" applications is that they can be specced with the rubber insert upper mounts. They are ideal for a street car and help reduce NVH, compared to a pillowball mount.

And thanks for all the kind words guys, glad we could be of service to you!

^ great suggestion, except two things:

1. it's overkill for what the OP is looking for
2. it doesn't qualify in the best bang-for-the-buck category simply because it's not priced in the same category as the entry-level offerings

silly brand fanboys.

hey ilv1004s,

I installed my Megan LP coils today, and I absolutely love them. The ride actually did not change too much for me riding on 20s. I can feel bumps, but it honestly feels better. Could be the placebo thing, but the response out of them is pretty nice. I can't compare them to BC's cause I've never ridden them, but if you're looking for a bang for your buck coil, these definitely are an option. I too was looking for something reliable for a short period, and after talking to many people who have these, I'm glad I got them.

Can someone help me understand what would separate a more expensive brand like TEIN CST's or KW V3's from say BCR's? Is there an actual difference in performance or is it just brand whoring? I never understood the point of spending twice as much money on something that no one will see anyway...
