A rotor is a rotor, as long as the cast quality is uniform and it is thick and heavy, it is all good. Even the Chinese are pretty good nowadays.

blank cheap rotors + good pads

Just get a nice priced cross drilled rotor. Helps with cooling/venting the rotors. No need to go all out for rotors unless you're putting on a big brake kit.

just get oem vented ones. unless you're tracking, then get slotted ones.

No, it really doesn't. It helps crack the rotor faster though!

see here for more info:

No need to use anything but blank rotors unless you're tracking the car (in which case you want slotted, not drilled), or you're building a show car (in which case sure, drilled look nice, and you won't drive it enough to crack it)

Absolutely right. Even though I have slotted rotors with my current set-up, I like the way that cross-drilled rotors look. If you're not tracking your car (which I'm sure most people don't do), they'll probably function just fine.

Question...when searching for a reason not to get the cross drilled, people on forums state they are prone to crack and are not a good idea, then why does Brembo use cross drilled? Why are all AMG cars using cross drilled?

I was just at a race event for AMG cars...and vehicles like the new SLS AMG, the CLK 63 Black Series, the SL 65 Black Series, all had cross drilled rotors...even some cars had Brembo kits and they had cross drilled...why if they are so bad? And are the F-sport rotors cross drilled?

Just want some education because I was thinking of using cross drilled for my next set of rotors...

That's exactly what my point was too. I mean those guys above were saying that it doesn't do **** to be cross drilled except for help them to get ruined and warped, well look at the race cars...

I bought cross drilled for my Audi that I just sold, and they were still in perfect condition.

In my opinion, cross drilled work great, look great, and are a good bang for your buck.

Cooling of the rotor is done with the internal vanes rather than the surface slots or the drilled holes. The slots and holes are for venting of the pads gases (and for look). Unless you use a pad that has a lot of gas, you won't need slotted or drilled rotor and it will crack easier than blank rotor.

Why AMG need it? They don't, but they make people pay attention to it because it LOOK cool.

Check out these brakes...I think they might be recommended for our cars as a performance upgrade by the manufacturer...

Exactly. The general public, of which most know nothing about vehicles, is going to pay $200,000 + for an exotic car, they want stuff that no one else has. In other words, they want a rotor that looks cool and one that most generic cars do not have, such as a $20,000 Ford Mustang having blank rotors.

You think Lexus might just be trying to make a buck?

They know that people will pay extra to get that "cool" factor.

The results are proven in the science!
