let me clarify my post and say that i should have added "popular" in front of the term "upper-echelon offerings" so as to limit the discussion to the higher end of the price spectrum of popular coilovers selections.

i suppose the term "upper-echelon offerings" used in an absolute sense within the context of this discussion is a misnomer.

thanks for pointing that out.

The HKS IMO would be too soft for the track at 5/5 spring rates. Maybe they would be to floaty for the track. Mine are 10/8 and they are IMO a perfect balance for track/street use.

However, alot depends on the tires, you dont do much with a stiff suspension and crappy tires. the tires will give out before the suspension does its job.

About the KW v3, it's quite a bit costly and still have to swap the upper mount over.
I heard it's got progressive springs? What's the approx spring rate on it?

KW doesn't publish spring rates on their springs because......it's progressive. The rate varies with the travel so you're not going to get a definite spring rate. However if you have access to a spring dyno, you can plot out the stiffness vs displacement.

and the floating at the track is not the spring its the rebound of the shock. V3s with there independently adjustable compression and rebound let you set that. They have the spring rates right when it comes to that. you get what you pay for. IMO
