Sadly, I have to Agree

I'd say my RX300 is stupid soft, like driving on marshmallows; so a 7.
Seeing as I drive these cars back 2 back regularly, the GS would be a 6.
I had 18's before, and the ride was easily as comfortable, if not more gentle in the GS. Now with the 20's, a very slight increase in bumpiness, harshness, thuds over bumps, etc... but I'd still drive my grandparents around in it with no reservations. kybs, espelirs, and fat tires all lend toward an OEM ride. The trd sways keep it pancake flat, but also add to the harshness over bumps. Daizen bushings only made the steering feel change... much more bimmerish.

The cheapest route would be a set of high quality spring/shock. The OEM spring are meant to soak up bumps as if they were never there in the first place. The shocks are valved too soft to have any 'control' that you're seeking. Even a Bilstein shock upgrade would reduce the floatiness by quite a bit. Paired that with some Eibach springs and you'll have that ride you're looking for but without adding too much harshness. When I had L-tuned/Eibach springs with KYB shocks, the ride was similar to a 5-series. You get more feedback, but it doesn't rattle your teeth out.

Driver-I have a 99' GS4 that isn't too different. I've done almost everything to the front end, and I have to agree with the description (not the styling of course, these cars are gorgeous). I know what the "changing" alginments was for MY car. Inner tie rod ends (though I did outer ones a year ago). I should have done them the same time. It took like 15-20 min. each side to change and there is only 5-6 bolts to get them off (not including the wheel lug nuts). My Lexus dealer missed them too. They thought I just kept hitting new potholes, lazy bastards. There is a GREAT video on youtube to check them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MkaagWF8ws
