supra TT front shocks VS. sc300 front shocks
#16
Back in 2004 I overhauled suspension on my SC400. Among other things I have installed used TT Supra springs and new struts. Not exactly...
Rear struts and springs were definitely different. TT Springs were progressive, conical type. TT Struts I got were also different than SC. SC springs are cylindrical constant rate BTW.
As far as front goes I did not find difference between TT springs and SC400 springs. Both had the same wire diameter, coil diameter, number of coils and same free height. That equals to the same springs. At that time I didn't buy TT struts, my price was more than $250 per strut , while SC400 were bellow $100 and that is what I got. Anyhow, while there is difference in rear between TT and SC400 I do not believe there is difference in front. YMMV tho.

I purchased 4 KYb Gas-a-just shocks for the Supra TT. Model numbers were fronts KG6800 and rears KG6799. Both the front and rears were shorter than the SC shocks. According to KYB tech and their website, these shocks are for Supras 94-98 and ALL engines.
BTW, if you are looking for good coste effective and NEW Supra TT shocks, I highly recommend the KYB Gas-a-Just shocks. On ebay, they are 100 OTD for either the front 2 or rear 2. So basically 200 for all 4.

I am pretty sure the fronts are the same on both cars. The rear shocks are totally different. You have to have supra rear struts with the supra springs. Stock sc300 front shocks with supra springs work perfect. Had about 2 inch drop tanabe gf210 springs using stock sc300 kyb front shocks and rear Supra kyb gas a just shocks.

"Any OEM and aftermarket suspension designed for the MKIV Toyota Supra will also work with the SC coupe. This includes all Supra coilover packages. Ony thing you must consider when shopping for Supra lowering spring packages: you must swap the entire strut-spring assembly from the Supra rear end, not just the springs. Meaning if you purchase Eibach Supra Prokits, you must also purchase Supra-compatible strut shocks, because the rear strut perch on the Supra sets lower than the rear strut perch on the SC. If you attempt a Lexus shock with a Supra spring, you will actually lift the rear end of the car higher than stock. The front struts are the same on both cars however. You have the option of buying the OEM Supra shocks (cheapest), or aftermarket Tokico, KYB, etc shocks. It is recommended that you replace all four shocks together for uniformity, instead of just the rears if you go this route. Supra NA and TT shocks will fit the SC300 and SC400 fine. You do not have to worry about these compatibility issues when you buy Supra coilovers."

Overall length of strut assembly has no impact on ride hight.
Two things impact ride hight as far as strut assy is concerned. First is spring, second distance from lower strut mount to the lower spring seat. Nothing else.

Understand what are you saying here. What is SHORTER?
