Brake fluid level

The other day I noticed my brake fluid level was low, almost at minimum. I added fluid, drove home about 10 miles in stop and go traffic, checked the level when I got home and it decreased a little bit.
Before leaving for work in the morning I checked it and it was over the maximum line. My brake pads are low and need to be replaced soon but I don't think it's the cause for the fluctuation.
Anyone experience this problem? Mahalo for your help!

I bled my brakes the other day and made this messy mistake ![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Pump the brakes 40 (yes 40!) times per the manual before you check/top off the fluid. Basically you just probably over filled it. I believe the cap is self bleeding or something like that, or you can suck a little bit of fluid out to avoid the leak.
