GS400 steering vibration
#16
Intermediate
I just had my steering pretensioner tighten at the dealership. The steering vibration problems seem to be resolved. I love how there is less play in the steering wheel: cool:. My GS even corner much better at high speeds. Talk to the dealership and have do the same to your car--it like night turning into day
Just my 2 cents.

My car actually shakes people in the car at 75mph. It has 35K on it and just out of warranty. No car should have this problem let alone a $50K one.
I asked the dealer to adjust the pretensioner but was told they had to do the WHOLE TSB, not just the pretensioner. It would be $700. This is a DEFECT by Lexus, not wear and tear issue. They have acknowledged this with the TSB.
Anyone in the NE know a dealer who would just do the pretensioner w/o the whole TSB.
This is a great site but I would rather be able to talk about Lexus freely then have there logo on the website

No, Lexus didn't say it was a defect...I did
If they build something, realize there is a problem in most of the GS400's, then change it the next model year (and put out a TSB on it) , I would certainly think it is a defect. Especially if it is something like a serious vibration that shakes the occupants at 75MPH. I think this is unacceptable in ANY car.
