Angry 2007 IS 350 Brake issues

Just purchased a X package 2007 IS350 Pre-Owned Certified from a lexus dealer. I love this car, but the only problem I have is the brakes are not what I expected from a Lexus vehicle. Basically, when I brake I gotta press the brake all the way to the floor to get the vehicle stopped. I took the car to the dealer to check brakes. They turned my rotors, and that is it. Now I notice a little difference. I asked the dealer, they said its normal for is350s. Now I am pressing the brakes almost at 3/4 ratio (almost to the floor) to get the vehicle stopped. Anyone has this issue? Please help!! Btw my rotors and pads look gud so far.

ask if you have the updated low dust brake pads on the car. the original pads caused alot of brake dust on the wheels. so lexus came out with the low dust pad which eliminates most of the brake dust. i know exactly what you are talking about because i just had the updated pads put on the front and i feel they dont stop as well as the older version. its just going to take some time to get use to. just pay attention while driving and plan your stops. but in an emergency they will stop as good as the older version it just doesnt feel that way, lol

At what point do you feel the brakes start to grab? 3/4 of the way down or is it earlier?

I think I know what you are talking about. When the brake pads were changed to the "low dust" version, braking took a lot more "effort" to stop. After about 10k miles of that, I decided to change the brake pads (same rotors) to genuine Toyota "non dust free" brake pads, and there is a difference. The brakes feel more "grabby" and slow the car down without much braking effort.

Granted, dusting is noticeable after just 1 day of washing the car, but that's a small price to pay for the braking feel improvement. After a week, the wheels are heavily dusted.

Air in the brake lines at a guess.

But if they're too dumb to recognize a problem (and if the pedal is going anywhere near the floor to stop normally there's a problem) then ask to test drive a new demo IS350 on the lot. Once you do and see the brakes work fine, go back inside and ask them "Which one is normal, my car, or this new one on your lot that works 10x better"

Then ask them for new, free, rotors since they pointless shaved a bunch of life off of yours to fix an issue that's clearly not a rotor problem.

+1. Whoever your service manager is, he's not very good.

As has already been suggested I would take it in and ask to drive one on the lot and compare then make them fix it, bleed the lines, replace the pads, replace the rotors, whatever it takes.

Well almost to the floor. I have to hold the brake firm in stop lights, if not the car will move slowly.

There is definitely something wrong. I hardly push the brakes in at all on my IS and the car wants to come to a quick stop.

Listen to Kurtz.
