Default Best brakes

I know this is a question probably asked a million times over.

My brakes are due for replacement and would like to know what brand have had the best results among CL members. My GS300 is stock.

I am really considering going with OEM replacements; Since these are the brakes money is not an a problem. So I will go with what ever is best.

Any input is appreciated!

Thanks

Carbotech - the best pads you can buy. Go with the Carbotech Bobcat 1521 pads. Here's the link:

http://www.ctbrakes.com/brake-pads.asp

They will be a little noisy at first while they bed into your new rotors. But then they will be nice and quiet (5 to 10,000 miles give or take). Just call them up and order them. They take a couple weeks to get them as they make them to order generally.

I've had oem and akebono pro acts and these stop and feel way better than either of them. Not even close. They are considerably more $'s but IMO they are worth every cent. The GS is a heavy car and these pads work great with the weight we are pushing. I found the other two pads lacking greatly.

Pair some Stoptech Stainless Steel brake lines, ATE Blue brake fluid, and some Disc brake Australia 4000 series rotors with what Scott ^^ recommend above and you will have more than enough braking for any driving situation.

Definately want SS brake lines - there are several folks that make these for our cars.

I have the LS400 front brake upgrade and it's tough finding rotors for this. I went with Centric rotors and got them through RockAuto.com and they were very inexpensive. Tirerack carries them too.

These have been rock solid rotors for me. I've had brembo blanks and these just rust like crazy. However, they were great rotors they just rusted. The Centrics have held up much better and have performed perfectly for me. Plus they are at a great price point. It costs more to have a rotor turned than it does to just buy a new Centric rotor and have it installed. They have paired up well with the CarboTech Bobcat pads. Recommended!

There not that really expensive. Around $175/rotor but will last you a long long time. I've used them on my GS300 for two season of track use before they wore out.

I do not recommend those rotors since they are prone to crack and squeek!

Just a question to you guys(just trying get an idea of what the GS members think on this)...

If considering BBK, would 800-900$ for a front set of ISF 14.2" rotors and corvette Zo-6 calipers, pads and special mounting bracket be considered overkill and too expensive in your eyes?

I did my research on Brakemotive and have heard nothing but good things about them on the GS forums, so I don't know. Just about everyone that has ever had rotors from them have said they had no problems whatsoever.
