Same issue. Got my alignment done and the car still shakes and wanders all over the road. I guess steering rack has to be the problem, possibly the bushings and adjustment is needed. (I've checked every component other than the rack.)
But I'm also pretty sure the later 2GS's had a revised steering rack without the problems of the 98's...still, check your steering rack.

same issues, but my steering got more stiff. hoping they return to its original less tension self when the lbj settle. does anyone know how many miles i can gauge to determine if the lbj has settled in?

I had a similar problem with my LS. Replaced springs and struts, wandered like crazy on the highway, scary. Was my Upper control arms. Bushings were toast. Replaced, aligned and all is well.
