New Coilovers, Brakes and track wheels.
Hi,
Was getting tired of the Tein SS so the official distributor (a good friend) here offered me a "pay if you like them more than the Teins" deal on some KW V3. After 3 weeks he called me up to say they are here.
They are the IS-F spec KWs not the ISx50. Why? More about that in a month or two. but 60+ different part numbers ordered just from Sewell (which have been AWESOME) including a spare OE front subframe may give a clue.
V3s on for a week and driving impressions so far are great but no real fast driving. A much smoother ride with no noticeable downsides. Still running on recommended settings but will start dialing them in on this setup.
Must say I am going to have to pay for them because I like them
Hoping to give them a real workout this weekend barring rain storms.
I also got all the IS-F Brake parts in this morning except for the backplates which I somehow forgot about but not that big of a deal.
I opted for some EBC Yellow stuff pads. While I tend to stick to the Ferrodo DS2500 the local EBC dealer said 48 hours and you have pads in hand for free to test. Couldnt say no and worst case will switch them out.
I realize dust is an important issue for a lot of folks so i will get back in a week or so to show you how bad or good these pads are as far as pad dust goes.
Wheels, Enkei PF01 - 18x9 +35 fr and 18x9.5 +35 rr. Cheap and light track wheels that can take the IS-F calipers. Excuse the "simple tires" . my Advan AD08 are still not here and the Toyo R888 are not up to handling the rain.
On to pics - from Blackberry so no too good.
Obligatory before shots of OE is250 brakes.

Rear.
New Front
New rear
And all done - front

Now waiting for the Figs engineering Mega arms and links.
How she sits now - yes another crappy pic.

I can somewhat relate to the feeling of the sidewall however after going through two sets of R888 you really get familiar with the tires characteristics and it gets a whole lot better and now I really like them. on my previous track tires - dunlop direzza G02 the time it took to get use to them was shorter bu its been a while since I drove on them so can't really compare them back to back.

Thanks all.
It handles pretty good but needs some adjustability which will be possible with FIGS mega arms and suspension links.
I went with the IS-F brakes because of parts availability. Rotors are very cheap and while I have not given the brake setup a proper workout I don't see the calipers being "bad" :-) . I will however look for a source for 2 piece rotors and make sure a local shop can bring them.

Forgot the comment on brake fluid. Its from ATE typ200 dot 4. Available in a blue or standard color to allow one to see when the new fluid has filled the system.
Gets changed out after every event or 3 to 4 months.

^Same here with the SuperBlue.
I ran PF01 (17") with Bridgestone RE11's on my Audi and absolutely loved the combination. Was down at 44lbs tire and rim combined weight. Curious----Whats yours come out at on the 18"ers?

PS, Ya need a real camera, the cell doesn't do your work justice...

Thanks guys.
I will keep you updated on the progress.
Yes I need a better camera I just get caught up in wanting to install parts as they arrive to remember to bring a better camera .
Had the AD08 installed and as expected they feel great and will get better as the miles covered with them add up.
Update on Dust. During the bed in period I was told to expect more dust than after bed in is done and turns out to be true. Dust over the past week while present is comparable with the OE pads so I will waiting a couple more weeks to report back on this issue.
