Honestly if you have a jack, a socket wrench, and a day of your time to spare... do it yourself. Its actually a lot of fun (you could do without the knuckle busters of course) but I did mine with the DIY here on the forums in about 6 hours time with a friend of mine.
I should mention that was the first mod I ever did to a car myself. It leaves you feeling good.

ive been eyeing the DYI all day...did you use the jack that came with car? isnt it also necessary to get a spring compressor - or is that a knucklebuster? im would be doing this myself - i may need it.

You def need an external style spring compressor. And you CAN use the jack that came with the car, but I'd advise jack stands as well to be safe. You can probably rent or borrow the spring compressor from an auto parts store.

Yes, you will need an alignment. Best bet is to have the whole installation and alignment done all at once by a experienced shop, not the dealer.

LOL... oh man. I inquired about the F-Sport springs, shocks, and install at the local dealership and they quoted me at 3100 or 3400... This was a year after they said that I would have to pay out of pocket for the broken oem shocks (less than 15k miles at that point).
I bought the springs and shocks online (I think it was from Sewell) and found someone in the NELOC forum who did a beautiful job installing them for a good price. I waited a couple weeks and had an alignment done.

im thinking about the road magnets for a nice drop...it may become a problem, since i need to go over 7 parking lot speed bumps every time i exit/enter my parking garage...i checked the clearance tonight and okay with a 2" drop, but they will most likely be rubbing...not sure - never had or been in a lowered car. what do you think - problems with 14 shallow speed bumps daily on a 2" drop with factory 18s?
if i do get springs, i am absolutely installing myself.

ive been told by many to not attempt to do this install by myself, and that the spring compressor is dangerous - esp. for first timers. any real truth behind this?
