Default Anyone interested in an AP rear brake kit?

First off, let me ensure the mods on the forum that I am NOT TRYING TO SELL or take away from vendor sales with this thread. I'm solely making this thread to possibly get us a part number for another aftermarket product that will be available for our cars. I am not profiting from this in any way.

I was talking to one of the brake division guys at Stillen about an AP big brake kit for my 2GS. I noticed they only made a front kit and not a rear. Every company I've talked to (Brembo, Endless, AP) do not make a rear kit for our car...just a front.

Stillen is willing to develop an AP brake kit, based on the level of interest. The price will be more than reasonable, and as you all know AP makes some top notch products. If they can sell 3 kits, they're willing to go ahead and make brackets for the 4pot AP system to fit the rear of our cars.

MSRP for the rear system would be approx. $2500.

So who's interested? I am looking to put AP 6pots up front and 4pot rears on my car.

steep and unnecessary??

Are you joking? Guys on here will drop 4-6g for an Endless 6 pot front kit, and then sell it a year later for 2500-3000.

Maybe you're right, most members on here do a BBK solely for looks and don't actually race / track their cars, so proper brake balance / bias isn't important to them.

that sounds like a really good ****in deal to me. excuse my language. if they could do 6F/4R, for that price...

when is the deadline and how long would it take? could I get a custom color?

That including rotors and SS lines I am assuming...?

Whatever color you want, whatever rotor, whatever compound, comes with all hardware and stainless lines....

They need someone to take a 2GS to their facilities and they will need it for about a week to custom fit and develop brackets. In return whoever does that, Stillen will re-emburse you for lending your car, give you a huge discount on the kit, or maybe even some free stuff.

Gauging from the reaction to this thread, I seriously doubt it will happen, doesn't seem like there is enough interest.

ummmm....that price of $2500 looks like it is just going to be the rears only by re-reading the OP's initial post.

There is NO WAY you would get a "full" 6pot front/4 pot rear BBK for $2500.

Definitely NOT a full 6pot front and 4pot rear for $2500. Price is for the rear only.

Keep in mind that this is an AP brake system. Pricing compared to Rotora or Stoptech is irrelevant as AP brakes are proven race technology and the quality is unmatched by these other companies. They're still cheaper than other brake systems of the same level of quality, and keep in mind, if you're in on this, you probably won't pay full retail.

my apologies I definitely mis-read this. I know how AP performs, I know a lot of my friends that run those on their supras. But like he said, $2500 is a little steep for just the rears. I thought I could get atleast 4 calipers for that price regardless if they were 4 or 6 piston.

For that price, I know people getting the 6 piston setups on their supras.

depends on the caliper they use, AP makes several calipers.

Just like a Mono 4 would be worth more than a 2pc 6pot.....

With this setup we're looking at a Mono 4.

An Endless Mono 4, you're looking at around 4G for the kit...

And like I said, full retail for this would be 2500, Jobber which is usually what stuff sells for on the market will be around 2100.

I honestly wouldn't mind paying that price. Just need time, and also a quote for both front and rear. I would be on the list for future group buy.

Cool, so where did they buy the kit from?? If you can find a kit already made, I'd buy it today.

My friend told me that Stillen was looking for a GS to test fit their brake kit on and I said I was interested. They never contacted me though.

I have the front AP 6 pot setup from Stillen.
They offer excellent brake feel and performance.
Interested to see how much interest is out there for this and the final price...
