Got tired of looking around for drift aid in sneaking a bit more angle out of a stock setup and decided to try making my own.
Before you post up asking why someone would want to space out tie rods- let me explain. I am not "spacing" the tie rods it is just a term that is used. There are a few ways to increase angle at full lock, best way imo is to have modified knuckles (have done on the Sc) or to try to increase rack travel etc. The "spacers" basically make the inner tie rod end travel into the rack a bit further.
What I tried was to remove 7mm deep and 25mm in center from a stock set of tie rods off a 95 miata I also have as a training car for new drivers on our team. This allows the rack to travel 14mm further past the origonal full lock.
See pics below.
This would work well for those Sc's without any other mods- input?

Yeah^ I am not a fan of loosing threads into the rack though. With machining the inner to act as a spacer you dont loose threads and allows more angle without the restraint of having to worry about the thread issue. Given the rack has an aditional 15~mm of travel past what the tie rods restricted stock, you could modify the inner tie rods near that tolerance and gain great angle all without having to modify the knuckles.
It just seems like an easy way to gain turnangle without the cost of modified knuckles.
Here is a before and after on a miata I just did. The rack travel beyond stock was better than 10mm I stoped at 7mm (-1mm locking tab) for a total of 12mm more rack travel. Pic is old full lock VS new full lock*
