Default Best Caliper Paint

I will possibly be painting my calipers sometime soon (when weather gets warmer) and i was wondering, besides Dipli-Color, what other caliper paint is out there that is the best *bang for your buck*. Also looking for a broad color palette

Dont be afraid to post pictures either!

G2 is the stuff man! A lot of member use it here...

You don't have to worry about the mess with spraying. It's simple to apply...

Just clean brake, mask off area you don't want to paint... then brush on.

The G2 Kit comes with all the stuff you need.

+1 on G2. That's what I used thou. Check my pics i posted not too long ago. I've seen spray applications also. They look good but I think the brush kit is a better and thicker product that will last for years. They also guarantee if it chips, but who cares. If you use the brush on I recommend takin the rotor off and bolt it back to the spindle and then tape and paint. Disassemble the whole thing is ideal but then you'll have to bleed the brakes. Also if you used the brush on stuff, start from the back first. Clear coat is not necessary IMO. GL

Did you guys that used G2 use a clear coat after to seal in the lexus decals? or is putting the decal on after good enough? I've got the G2 kit ready to paint! I thought it came with a clear coat but noticed it doesn't.. so I'm just wondering if I need/should to go get a clear coat..

I've had Dupli-color (brake kit) painted brakes with decals for >4.5 years now and I used Dupli-color 500 degree clear coat on them. No chips, paint or decal peeling! The most important part of painting ANYTHING is surface preparation!

EXACTLY what I'm gonna be doing over the extended Labor Day weekend here. Same exact Dupicolor products, and I even bought their brand of caliper cleaner. Perhaps a before and after thread will be seen here soon.

I would suggest unmounting the front brake calipers and remove the pads and hang them off the spring via lock wire. That way you can paint the entire caliper. The rear ones I painted while mounted to the car with the pads removed,...lots of room.

Lubox posted the torque for the front calipers in another thread.

I'm planning on painting my calipers this coming weekend, and I hope someone can help answer these questions before then.

I've read up on all the threads on CL about painted calipers (there should really be a mega-thread created). I've decided to do the brush-on G2 paint with the MotoGFX decals. I have a 2007 IS350.

Here are the supplies I've obtained or ordered:

- G2 Brake Caliper Paint System Set (http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/acces...tail.jsp?ID=41)
- Dupli-Color Engine Enamel Clear (http://www.amazon.com/Dupli-Color-DE.../dp/B000GKEXW0)
- MotoGFX IS350 Caliper Decals (http://www.motogfx.com/lexus/)
- Brakleen
- Wire brushes to clean the calipers
- A few higher-quality brushes from an art supply store

My plan is to place the car on jack stands so I can do all 4 calipers at the same time. Then I'll remove the wheels (but leave on the calipers), clean the calipers with the wire brushes and Brakleen, brush on a few coats of G2, apply the decals, then spray the clear coat enamel over it.

My questions are:

1) Does anyone have any tips, advice, or steps/items I missed above?

2) I'm using a friend's garage, floor jack and jack stands, none of which I've used before. Can someone tell me the safest process for actually getting the car up onto all 4 jack stands at once? Do I use the floor jack to jack up the rear of the car, put the jack stands under the rear two sides, then repeat for the front? Do I do the front or rear first?

3) Has anyone ever painted their calipers with G2/clear coat then either removed it or painted over it later? I'm wondering because I could foresee myself in the future either wanting to change color or just go black. I read in another thread about an epoxy remover from Home Depot that will get the paint off, but if I do end up needing to change it up (like if I'm selling the car), I'd rather just paint them all black. If I paint them with G2 red, put on caliper decals, then spray the clear coat, will it be possible to paint over it later on? Or will the clear coat resist repainting? Is there a way to get the clear coat off?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help, really looking forward to this mod.
