Default Another Knocking/Clunk On Front F-Sport Sway Bar Now...Ugh!

Hey guys,

Anyone else have a clunk/knocking noise on the front left side over slow small bumps? Seems that at speed, the noise doesn't happen over bumps but when I'm going down the driveway or going over a speed bump over something there is a loud clunk...sounds like the bar is smacking against something. It's really cold this morning so it could be weather cause when I got to work about 20 minutes in to my drive...it wasn't doing it as bad. I'm annoyed cause this is the second time i've had issues with these bars that were installed by the dealer.

Can you check under the car to see if there bolted down tightly? First guess would be there not tight enough.

Did you ever figure out what the 'knocking/clunking' noise was?

I actually installed front/rear sway bars last week and I experienced clunking in the rear. I looked underneath and the metal bracket that holds the sway bar bent and screw that holds the bracket in place, the head broke off. I overtorqued the bolts (long story)... I went to Autozone to rent a torque wrench and retorqued the screws. No clunking! Problem fixed!

I would look to see if the brackets and bushings are where they're supposed to be in front. If they are, check the bolts, I'm guessing they might not be properly torqued. And also the slits on the bushings should be facing the front of the car. I'm going through the installation steps in my mind and those are the only things I can think of.

My front sways are fine, no problems to report... Hopefully you'll get it fixed.

They ordered new end links and bushings...but funny enough...the slits on the bushings were not facing the front of the car...so they probably weren't installed properly. Annoying!

Got the new end links and bushings on for the front it the noise is 100% gone. That must have been the problem...not sure why...but at least it's taken care of.

I think I need to replace the rear endlinks in my IS 350 because I messed them up during the install (I have details here if anyone's interested: http://shahryar.net/2011/03/14/faile...y-2008-is-350/ ).

How much did they cost and where did you get them from?

I took my 08 IS 350 back to the place that installed my front and rear F-Sport Sway Bars back in June complaning about the metal clunking noise. They did some tightening and I never heard the noise again.
