The only thing that needs to 'break-in' is the rubber mounts between the spring and the top hat because they do get compressed (ever so slightly). Springs and shocks don't 'break-in'. It's an urban myth that got started by backyard mechanics.

how much does alignment go up too($$$$)?

Probably $250 if you want it corner balanced which is not worth it unless your tracking your car or really have money to burn. Custom alignment probably $100-150. Basic 4 wheel about $60-100.
