shaved calipers (ls400 bbk) - ugh ohes
so i had to shave my ls400 brakes to fit my wheels with 5mm spacers.. well i had to shave so much that it seems as though i hit holes that hold brake fluid. i only shaved 1/1000th off the top of these holes but this is a serious issue.
i can get my buddy to weld the holes and sand them down. but since the calipers heat up.. ALOT. do you think i run the risk of the welds blowing out, me losing my brakes and wrecking.
i was informed you only had to shave a little off these brakes.. i didnt know i had to shave so damn much off. iv done honda calipers no problem, didnt think id come to this problem.

I bought a new set and 10mm spacers with studs and ill throw the 5mm on the rear.I thought about it and just the feeling of knowing my brakes could go out gave me the chills.
So if your going to do the ls400 bbk DO NOT grind down the ''beauty'' line on the side of the caliper. There are holes that hold brake fluid behind those once u make it flush with the rest of the surface is where youll discover the holes

its just the stupid low offset of my wheels. ill prolly still need to shave them. but not as much. i should have measured the gap (which is right around 10mm) before i bought the 5mm spacers. user error.

If welded properly, you could be okay. The heat that is generated isn't close enough to the melting point of the metal. Your brake fluid would have boiled way before the welds melted. The only problem is, can you get a good weld in the first place. Safest bet is to get a new caliper, which you did
