Warped rotors. Should feel it in the brake pedal too, if you don't feel it in the brake pedal, its something else.

Only when you brake? Or also when you get off the gas pedal (less pronounced shake) at like 70mph?

Yup like what all the above posts say, It's most likely your brake rotors and pads

thanks for everyone's input. I'll check the rotors when I get the chance. Could wheel bearings also be a possibility? I recently put on 18x9 and 18x10 wheels from stock wheels and the shaking got worse. I now feel the shaking when going on the freeway even when I'm not braking. I did an alignment two weeks back as well

steering wheel shakes at highway speed when try to slow down = warped rotors
steering wheel shakes when install larger rims = centric ring most likely

what do you mean it feels like it's locked? Like the caliper won't release from the rotor?

And if it's the wheel bearing, it does not appear that the bearing and spindle are one piece. I would imagine that you can take your spindle off and press out the bearing and press in new ones if that's the problem.

No need to replace the spindle, you can just get bearings from lots of places, including rockauto. They are right on rockauto's site listed for like $4x.xx or so.. Check Carson Toyota or Swell Lexus if you want oem bearings.
