Default Question about wheel and tire sizes for racing

I'm looking at building a serious road racing car and I was wonding if should focus on getting a smaller wheel(17 or 18) with a meatier tire or go for 19s with a smaller tire. I'm really just learning about this stuff so any input would be great

Go as small of a diameter as your brakes allow. Most likely, you can stuff a 17" over whatever brakes you will run in the future.

Despite what many BBK kits offer, most racers do not find rotors over 13" to be functional. There are few people that really NEED a 14" kit where a lighter and cheaper 13" kit + brake ducts with a good race pad will suffice.

If you truely feel you will ever go with a 14" BBK then go with 18" wheels. Just be ready to pay more for tires since 17"s are still quite a bit cheaper than 18" slicks or R-comps.

What type of racing will you be doing? SCCA or NASA?
