Default 38-40mm Front RCA work with 16inch wheels

I know that Exact (38mm) and the rare SAGE (40mm) will cause some issues with 16inch wheels. My question is, has anyone attempted to make it work. I mean having as much drop as possible, yet using the 16's in the winter. On that same token, has anyone just bothered to shave the few mm's off either? Counterproductive I know, but hey it would work.

Why not get the Sage 30mm ones? I just got mine from PHML. I think he might have a couple more and he has rears

I already have the exact motorsport ones. I got a deal on it and I didn't want to pass it up. I may down the road sell this unit and get the sage. I am just waiting on my rear RCA's that just got shipped.

Mo, what do you mean by "making it work"?

Exact's 38mm and SAGE's 40mm will rub the 16s inner wheel barrel....its a known fact.

I guess...if thinking outside the box...you could "make it work" by using a bolt with a shorter head size...and leave out the locking washer, etc...

The only concern is the bolt will not be 12.9 grade high strength....and would be susceptible to lateral forces and shearing....thus, not recommended. Of course that is your call and the chance you take using low quality hardware.

I get what you are saying Pete. I do however disagree with it being as bad as you might consider, if you do it correctly. You can get 12.9 grades in different lengths and have the correct shaving of the material to adjust accordingly. Let's be honest, if you look at what some of the 3GS guys have done with blocks of aluminum to adjust the camber and bring back some of the geometry that was once there. If it is done correctly no ill effect should occur. We are also taking mm's that would be trimmed to have a close fit. Basically, I want to put it to the edge. Have the most drop without being at 30mm.

What I might end up doing is having the 38mm used in the summer and switch out with a 30mm in the fall when I need my other wheels on. We'll see and I'll talk to some of my guru's in the area to get an idea as to what I can do. I do see it clearly in my head without causing issues.

I won't explore it for a bit and I will most certainly report to the community. As for a pure plug and play. SAGE is the only way to go if you don't want to modify. My research has noted even a 33mm might be an issue. If that is the case, I won't shave off the material of my current RCA up front.

Sage 30mm RCAs = The perfect drop (Scraped 1 speed bump), Lexus ride quality, and compatible with 16s. I love my Sage RCAs.
