Im about to drop my car off at Lexus of Portland today to get the lower ball joints and tie rod ball joints replaced as well as the rest of my Dazien Urathane bushing kit.....im about to hit 170k miles and am getting a pretty bad squeak out of my front right lower ball joint when I turn the wheel. It was freaking me out, but Portland Speed Industries told me I could still drive on it for a bit.
I was told that to replace the uppers you have to replace the control arm...is there an aftermarket option to go with my new urathane bushings? I would hate to buy new arms for the ball joints just to pry out the new factory bushings. .......??

on those UCAs its Yes and No. if you want Lexus its yes. aftermarket I am doing my homework on SPC Specialty Product Adjustable upper control arms. look on you tube 72270 - Lexus GS.
I also saw something on maybe pressing out and changing those upper bushings/ball joints but not so sure on that

I suppose I could have been more accurate in my description of which ball joints were being replaced. I got my car back the other day after rolling the 2012 ES350 loaner (talk about a gas mileage change from the GS 400!!) The car feels nice and solid! Scott Miner @ Lexus of Portland gave me a pretty good deal on the parts when I showed him the link to the CL vendor Sewell Lexus' page/prices. I love to do it myself, but when down time is an issue it sure is nice to get the dealership experience at discount

For me no I couldnt tell it was toast just by looking at it cause you cant hardly see it even when underneath it under the car. I suggest slowly turning and braking and then puhsing up and dwon on car at both wheels . Also remove wheel see if the hub/rotor assembly has play up and down or not. I did that at advice of forum member here and it did.I changed it so its good now. i checked it at the alignment shop for play after I chnaged it and fine now
