Default Clunk sound

Hey guys, i think i have made a thread about this in the past but here it goes again. I have a 98 GS4 and i recently changed the caster arm bushings to see if it would fix a clunk sound i have on the car to no avail. The sound is a clunk but not like a brake sound where you hear it click, no, its like someone is bumping the front end with a hammer when i go over bumps, i don't know but to me it sounds like lower ball joints or the sway bar links, i'm posting this to see if someone fixed it without throwing parts at it until it stopped, oh i also changed struts, and have 18" wheels but originally had 20" and also forgot to mention that there is a wheel shimmy at 65+ mph.

Hey Sam, Great question but please use the ''Search" function above to see if someone has fixed this issue in the past. There is also a sticky called Front Suspension fixes and facts. A great thread...

Heres a link to most clunk noises for the GS

Is your car lowered? only thing I could think of is the control arm hitting the inner fender.

Nah, its not lowered, also i searched today the forum and found out that someone had a similar problem and cause was loose sway bar end links so i might get a look at that first but if not that, what do you think might be the problem, lower ball joints?

yeah, i actually fixed the lower ball joint issue and took a road test and the noise seemed to be almost gone with the exception of a little clank noise, almost sure the links are bad too and where contributing to the clunk sound, think i will buy and replace them this week
