First Time Lowering

It's always better to "match" springs and shocks. A lot of people have Tanabe's with OEM springs and like the ride. I always thought that the springrates of the Tanabes were too soft to really make a difference in terms of handling.
Worn shocks may explain the floatiness you're experiencing.
I have Tein S-techs with KYB GR2 shocks and got rid of all floatiness. The ride is still very smooth, but you can tell it's not OEM when you push it hard around corners.
A strutbar will not help with bodyroll, but it will give more precise steering, due to more body rigidity. You can get one for the rear too.
Also did you check the endlink and the swaybars? Is everything bolted up correctly?
The car will settle a little in the next couple of days. It won't have much impact on driving but you will see the difference in height.

I got brand new, OEM shocks to go along with the springs. The good thing about it is that it does ride very close to stock, but i do wish the springs were more stiff - but then that might require aftermarket shocks to match. On a good, paved highway (hard to find in NYC), the car does ride like its on a cloud.
at the very least, the handling isn't worse than before. Id still like to test it out properly, like doing autocross, but that's out of the question right now. There are some on-ramps that i used to take at 40-45mph with no problems but the way the back end moves around i'm nervous to try that out again. Gotta find a big empty parking lot...

Do you have any pics of the drop gtmax? I am looking at ordering some NF210's for my GS3 but I am adding a 17mm rca in front to allow my LS calipers. I still don;t know if I want the drop of NF's or DF's.

I swear GS400 and GS430 comes with OEM 17" wheels...only the GS300 comes with OEM 16" wheels.
As for lowering...there are Tein, Tanable, H&R, Eibachs, etc springs that you can choose from...as well as KYB, Ltuned, Bilstein, etc...shocks/struts.
Another option is just running front and rear SAGE RCA kits on your stock suspension....it lowers roughly 30mm (1 inch) all around and you keep your stock LEXUS ride quality. Front RCA kits do come in larger sizes...38mm from EXACT and 40mm from SAGE because the front fender to wheel gap is larger.

Hard to tell how much the drop is looking at it. The gap and the wheel are both black so it looks higher than it is. I can say for sure that i have a 1 finger gap in the back and two finger gap in the front when i'm parked in my garage. The trunk also feels lower so it definitely went down a bit.

Ok, that's what I was kinda thinking. One finger gap in the rear and two in the front, well one up front too once I add a figs 17mm rca. Cool because I orders some NF210's Monday. What sire rim/tires do you have?
Thanks for the pic!

235/45/17. I drive every single day of the week so i'm kind of glad they're only 17s. Down there in FL you guys have great freeways and great weather. I think around here with much bigger wheels you're asking for trouble.

Ah I have same wheel/tire size. I am running some staggered OEM 17"s off my old G35. I use the car everyday for work so 17 are much more forgiving then the 19's I had. In Florida the roads aren't so bad but I spend most of my time in Louisiana where they are the worst!!!

Well I took my normal 500 mile trip yesterday for the first time on the NF210's. I have to say I am impressed. I am glad I didn't go any lower because we had a full load (about 650lbs worth) and the rear tire was tucking. Even with a full load, it drove like stock. I am very pleased. I replaced my castor bushings as well and noticed you can feel the road just a little bit more but it wasn't bad at all.

I have a one finger gap in the rear and two up front as well. Last week, we took a 500 mile trip. My dad (250lbs) and myself (250lbs.) plus 100lbs of speakers and box in the trunk and the rear seat filled with 150-200lbs. The rear tires were tucking but never rubbed the fender and we went over some pretty ruff roads.
