Hello, I went to the dealership to get my fuel sensor recall done. The service guy just called me saying the front brake pads are shot and will last for another 2 weeks. they also need to do some work to the rotor, quoted me a price around $600. The OEM pads(not the low dust one) were replaced 20k miles ago. I do 50/50 city/highway driving and rarely do hard braking. does that sound right?
How do I visually inspect how much is left?
Thanks in advance.

I'd ask him to put that in the report, he should. Then take your car to an independent brake place in town to get second opinion. Most brake places would d a brake inspection for free.
20K miles is too low unless you do a lot of hard braking but you said you don't. I have an 07, too and my brakes were replaced at 43K miles.

You could check them yourself, or probably have a local shop do it too. A pair of front pads I believe from Sewell are ~$55, and rotors I think are ~$150. You can do one or both yourself. I'd ask them for more specifics on the "work" they want to do to the rotor. I'd never pay a dealership $600 based on something that vague.
For $600 they should be replacing the rotors and pads entirely, and even at that price it's too much for me.
