Hey guys,
I'm getting a super loud squeak from my rear wheel. I am totally clueless as to what it is, because I have no idea at all how to replicate it.
It only happens when driving at a constant speed or slowing down, not at all when i'm speeding up.
It also sounds like it's happening at a certain "point" in the wheel, and it's not speed dependant at all. It will make the noise if I'm going 20mph, or 2mph.
I need some ideas to work with!

Could be lots of things. Possible causes from your brief and vague description; brakes, brake rotors, wheel bearings...
Some questions that might help determine;
Does it happen when braking?
When you turn, either left or right, does the sound disappear?
Does it happen when you drive over dips and bumps on the road?

Sound is worse when applying pressure, such as turning right.
Seems to not happen under acceleration, and playing with the brakes makes no difference.
Dips/bumps seem to sometime make it go away/cause it to happen.
I'm honestly lost, but it's slowly getting worse over time... I'm going to make a solid attempt to figure out what it is tommorow afternoon.

I'm almost definitely sure that it's a wheel bearing. See, when you remove the weight on the right side when you turn the sound goes out, but when the pressure is back on that side the sound go back. This sound can really be annoying and take all the luxury feel out of the car. The only way to test this is lift it, or put it on stands or whatever just to get the wheels off the ground (it doesn't have to be all at the same time you can go from wheel to wheel). Once a wheel is off the ground check for play in the wheel by putting pressure at 2 o'clock of the wheel, then 10 o'clock, if it has a "play" then the bearing on that wheel is shot. I myself replaced both rears in the last 6 months. Good luck.
This is fairly easy to do on your own if you have access to a press. Requires removing the whole hub assembly from the suspension. I bought a press from Harbor Freight to fix mine then returned it after using it for the job, LOL.

bump lol this is old, but was it the wheel bearing my 400 started doing the same thing. at first i thought the wheel bearing was bad it had play. when i went to replace. the axle nut was loose tighten it up and no play. a couple of days later i noticed the squeaking and same symptoms goes away when accelerating even if its just lightly. i know this post is old but maybe you fixed and still check the forums.
