stock GS caliper vs Supra TT caliper...

I made a template of my TT calipers. I faxed a copy of it to Shinchan a while ago so he could check his wheels. The 3 finger deal will give you a ballpark idea, but I'd want a more precise method than using fingers.
We're talking clearances of as little as 1/4 inch on some wheels.
The offset alone will not guarantee a fit. As has been mentioned, it's also dependent on how the center section of the wheel is designed.
Anybody know how I could post my template to access on the forums let me know? Posting a pdf file I suppose could work.

Ryan,
That Master Cylinder Stopper from what I read cancels out the Brake assist on the GS which gives that soft feeling. Everywhere I have seen it sells for 15,000 JPY which is about $130 bucks or so.

The master cylunder stopper is great, but wont work on the US Left Hand Drive GS's. Dont forget that Pat has a LHD V300 and the brake booster is on the opposite side. This is not to say one cant be made, but at least the ones current available probably wont work since the mounting points to the struts are at different angles on each side of the car.
Just my $0.02
Willie
PS I have experience with this on S14's

I figured that one would have to be fabricated but want to see as many pics as possible.
You have used a MSS? If so, please share your thoughts even if it wasn't on a GS.
Thoughts on how to fabricate one for the GS?
Thanks.

The main point i would like to make is the fact that these cars are RWD. Most people put front wheel drive wheels on these cars that have too high a offset which offers no caliper clearance whatsoever. Staggered is optimal.

I saw the GB for the AP's, just not sure if I want spend that much cash for them, although the price is pretty good for what they are.
My HRE's are the 540's, 20x8.5, 20x10.
They probably have the offsets on them somewhere, does the offset alone dictate whether or not the brakes will fit, or is it just one of the factors involved.
Also, I take it the stock 17's wont fit on the car with the Supra TT calipers, which would mean no winter wheels for the GS!! Argh, HRE's on the car in the winter weather, that would suck!

If HRE's are labeled the way JDM wheels are, the disc type will be noted as follows: A disc=standard lip size/clearance, O disc=super low/deep lip(USUALLY rear wheels), R disc=high disc for "bigger" calipers. Keep in mind that there ARE a couple of other disc types but they are rarely used in reference to Lexus specific wheels......Also, offset should be clearly displayed....

Ryan,
I have yet to really see a lot of available ones for LHD vehciles. The do improve brake feel, but honestly that would be something I would do after I have done the brake upgrades and so forth.
Especially with one not specifically offered for the LHD GS, the effort may not be worth the results. I would have to see one for the RHD and compare the mounting points of the LHD to see about fabrication possibilites.
Sorry if I bursted anyones bubble about getting one =/

So how far does the TT caliper stick out towards the wheel spokes, from the rotor?
I'm trying to figure out if I can hang a set of those calipers on my car,if not I have another idea...
