Multiple HKS coilover models for GS??? Help quick.
I ran across a good price for some HKS HiperDamper IIs but I am trying to find some more info.
The model # is 1760-ST007 and matches what is on the HKSUSA website. Here:
I've also run across some other models for the GS:
#1770-ST002
Here:
and #1722-ST007
here:
Is one of these an older model? Different spring rate?
I'm guessing if there is a Hiper Damper II, there was an original Hiper Damper? What are the differences?
Thanks in advance and I put this in the wrong spot for quick action.

the one from supra store is the LS(luxury sedan): only ht adjustible, not damping, less $$$
the 2nd one is the hyper max II, both damping and ht. adjustible...

I called HKS and got the info.
You are right on the LS and Hiper.
The LS has spring rates of 8/8 kg/mm and the Hiper has rates of 10/8.
I guess that other model number is a fluke. That is the one I was really unsure of.
Thanks.

1722-ST007 are Hipermax (Hiper) Dampers. They were 10 or 20 way adjustable. There were 2 production runs on these. If the label on the damper said Hiper-D, then it was 10 way adjustable. If the label said HKS Damper, then it was 20 way adjustable.
1760-ST007 are the current Hipermax Dampers currently available by HKS, also known as the Hipermax II. These are 30 way adjustable and have different spring rates & valving than the previous versions.
1770-ST002 are the new Hipermax LS and are height adjustable only. Lower price too.
All of the HKS kits include the upper pillowball mounts.
Hope this helps.

I have had the 1722 and the 1760 versions, and will be using the 1760 version on my third GS (Yes, I said third). The 1722 versions were a bit at the mid setting (out of 20). I like the 1760 more due to the wider range of settings (30) and the slightly different spring rates.
The 1770, Hipermax LS are a great option for ones that dont want the extra emphasis on performance (hense the adjustable stuffness), but will be more than happy with a coilover that offers height adjustment and sport enthused ride and handling at a fairly good price.
Just my $0.02

<side note> pillowball mounts are not a race only part and do not damage the chassis nor make you lose fillings. They do offer crisper steering response and a solid turn-in feel
