Default Steps to help prolong tire wear

Hi,

My GS300 just broke 55K. Currently on OEM 18's w/ 245/40/18.

It is STANCE lowered on coil overs w/ no figure gap. Dampers set 8 clicks left.

My tires wear out horribly fast. Most recent set is about 10K and the inside is worn and starting to bald. My tires are CUPING! I just flipped it.

I have in mind to do the following at 60K-

Front lower ball joints
Front Daizen Caster Arm Bushing kit
Corner Balancing for coil overs. (i need to make sure they are properly adjusted).
Alignment.

Is there anything else i should do to help my tire wear? 10K to almost bald is really bad.

Thank you,

try a proper alignment - if your tires are cupping and you're getting excessive wear you have something wrong with your geometry or alignment.

FINGER GAP!! lol

but yea all it is is a good alignment.. Im on air and i have near 30k on my tires.

If your rear toe cannot be aligned all the way then you need rear toe arms. other than that it should be easy to get it back on spot.. besides the camber without a camber kit. As long as you dont have a lot of negative or positive camber it should wear evenly.

i've had my alignment done about 10K miles ago.

it's the front that is eating up the tires. the rears seem to wear out OK!

what are the current specs right now? its easy for our cars to get out of spec due to its age and the road conditions. a car with deteriorating bushings will not hold proper specs long.

nagisa front upper arms will fix that...but it will cost you big bucks.

i assume you already maxxed out the oem camber bolt to the most positive setting already?

My car was at stock height and had been eating front tires but it is a combo of my castor bushing, lower control arms, tie rods, and lower ball joints were bad. And my steering rack needs to be tightened, it has play at high speeds.

And it was my passenger side that did the most damage on tires

My ball joint were suppose to of been replaced a year ago but some how they replaced the lower control arms. They then did an alignment(well they charged me for it) I brought my car in two weeks ago for another alignment when I lowered my car. This past weekend I take it up there and they tell me my lower ball joints were bad. This was when I found out they never changed my ball joints and screwed up.

I am now about to get refunded for both alignments because you cant align a car with bad ball joints. They also will be replacing the front tires that are all cupped up due to their mistakes. I am lucky those ball joint didn't snap on me on the interstate!!

If your tires are cupping, your shocks are probably bad.

What kind of tire are you using? Kinda hard to believe to get to 30k miles and tires still good.

john its true if he is on stock wheels....

i have close to 40k on my michelin energy mxv4's and they still have PLENTY of life left. course i did a rotation (since they were free) every 2-3k and checked the tire pressure every week if the stupid things would fit my BBK i would put them back on for winter

Or, tires are out of balance or a combination of both.

I have STANCE suspension. They are slightly over a year old with about 15K miles on them. I did set them stiff because it was bottom out.

I have falken ziex 512 size 245\40\18.

Is the ride bouncy? If you're bottoming out, you need stiffer springs, unless the Stance coils offer compression adjustment. But even then, it's not wise to rely on the shocks for that..

What was the alignment reading when when you got it done? If your bushings/joints/etc are worn out, then the alignment you got 10k miles ago is thrown out the window.

so i checked my dampers, it is set 2 clicks. 0 being MAX STIFF.

i reset it to 5 clicks from 0. 8 Clicks is suppose to be the sweet spot.

Anyway, we'll see. could be true that the springs too soft.
