Why is my fender gap different between front and back? (OEM suspension, 01 GS430)
(2001 GS430, approx 126k miles, stock 17" wheels)
One thing that drives me nuts about the car is that the front fender gap is larger than the rear, as if I have a bunch of heavy stuff in the trunk (even though I don't).
My suspension feels like it's is starting to wear out, so I was looking to replace it. I'd love to add aftermarket suspension components but am worried that it might lower the car too much. I have a very steep driveway, and if the car is much lower than it is now in the rear, I will drag on the driveway everyday.
So, if I go stock for the replacements, does anyone know if Lexus resolved this with their replacement suspension or would I end up with an unequal fender gap again?
Also, do people typically replace struts and springs or just struts? Any other suggestions for aftermarket parts that maintain the semi-OEM look and ride?
Thanks!

The fender gap is always larger in the front than the rear. Reason for this is because of the wheel arch in the front fender is taller to allow the front wheels to turn. It is actually like this on most vehicles.
Here is a perfect example. This is a photo of my car slammed on bags. The distance from the bottom of my side skirt is even all the way across, yet you can see my rear wheel is more tucked in than the front.
