Default Is There A Way To Adjust Brake Sensitivity?

I just did the LS400 brake upgrage with brand new oem pads and rotors front and rear but my cousins 94 SC300 with crappy aftermarket brakes has better brake sensitivity and stops quicker than mine. I know its possible to adjust sensitivity but I can't figure out how to do it on this car. Anyone know how?

??? Never have I heard of adjusting sensitivity.

Most likely he has aftermarket pads with better bite. OEM style and low dust pads don't grip as quickly or as hard as true motorsport or semi pads. Also, try bleeding your fluid. If its never been changed, you will greatly benefit from it.

Stock SC300 brakes has better initial bite compared to LS400. But that's about the only thing better on SC300 stock brakes.

Also generally speaking, cheaper aftermarket pads provides greater bites at lower temp range. (picture city driving.) This creates an illusion that cheaper pad upgrade on stock SC300 brake is indeed better than, say an LS400 upgrade due to it's lack of strong initial bite.

These cheaper pads fades and becomes unuseful at higher operating temp range (picture racing) where LS400 brakes (or high-end expensive racing pads) really shine.

Why don't you take your cousin to auto X and see who's brake set up is better? Of course, if city driving is all you're doing, you didn't need BBK upgrade in the first place.

You could also add an old school adjustable proportioning valve if you no longer have the ABS.
Try some Blue Stuff EBC pads after you install the SS lines.

I only run the Yellow Stuff EBC's but over time they eat up rotors. perfectbrakes.com sells them.

Excellent pads. I got a few free sets when EBC "sponsored" racers.
They heat up fast so there is no real downside to running them in the street besides the crazy dust.
