01 GS430 Coilover/drop questions
Ok guys and gals...I ordered some 19" wheels and tires. I would also like to lower the car.
I would like to achieve a little more aggressive handling and not lose too much of the factory ride if possible. Performance over comfort
Questions:
Coilovers or lowering springs only? ?( I feel like if I am going to take the car apart I may as well do coilovers)
If I do coil overs and drop the car around 1.5 to 2.0 inches will I need anything special to get alignment back to spec?
Which coil overs are the best bang for the buck? I see megans are around 800 and tein around 1700. Is there that much of a difference? (I believe in "you get what you pay for" but damn that is a huge diff)
I would like to keep cost down but also want to buy NEW!
I look forward to your comments/input in my decision....

Megan are ok on a tight budget, I would recommend going with the BCR coilovers though, they don't cost much more and have better features. Like locking lower rings, beefier shock bodies, available rubber mounts, and better ride quality.
You can get a really low drop with the BC's if you wanted and we can set the kit up with a custom rate to match the ride you want.
the price will be between the Megans and Teins, and they will perform just as good, if not better, than a set of the Teins.
Just shoot us a PM

I run BC Racing BR "Xtreme Drops"
And I run 19s, heres how the coils sat right out of the box
I've had them for almost a year now and they ride great. A bit tighter then stock but not super bouncy or annoying on long drives ( I drive 60 miles round trip each day )
I got them here

Is a camber correction necessary with the drop your running? Do you happen to know what spring rates your running?
Thank SoCal, Do you happen to know what spring rates your running on the Megan's?

I got the Megan lp's.... I have only had them on about a month but I find them easy to adjust and the ride is great from my point of view... I have no complaints..... I am dropped pretty low and I still have a lot more to go down with these coils... My boy got the bc's I also think they are a great ride.... In the end I feel if you went with either one you would be happy.... Both have 32 point dampening on the shocks and if I remember right from when I was doing research on them they both have the same spring rates.... So it all comes down to you budget I guess.... Good luck with your choice.....

Riding on BC-R extreme drop, it rides great. At first I dislike BC-r because circuitms kept pushing BC-Rs for everyone. But I got some a discount and they really do hold up. I'm doing 14k/12k I believe haven't bottom out, max stiffness still rides smooth. My brothers is350 has megans LP and they are stiff, but nasty stiff.

Because they reduce body roll a lot and help with handling a good amount while keeping a stock ride whether you're slammed or just dropped a little. I have rode and driven GS' with Stance coilovers and they're no dissapointment. They can also withstand abuse, so if you ever think about throwing your GS sideways you're all good to go with Stance on your car.

I bought some Megan EZ streets for a really good price
http://www.optionimports.com/
I'm tucking tire in the rear, and have half a finger gap in the front. And the ride is as smooth as butter.. pretty much feels as smooth as stock but the handling has exponentially improved.
