The tech's tell me the reading is more of in terms of equipment accuracy and fine turning which would differ than the mentioning that tenths is fine. I can see where tenths is not precise enough if either number is at the extreme edge of each other. Ie. 0.11 and 0.19 being report as 0.1 or something similar to that nature
A co-worker of mine tells me that there are cars (like his M3) which have 1/32 and 1/64th incremental adjustments. The equipment precision would matter. Since he races on the track with this car, he tells alignment shop which he goes to specific precise values his wants his car setup to be.

The tenths I'm referring to is for camber and caster reading. When was the last time you saw camber adjusted to 1/64" on a street car? For toe, yes you do have 1/64" increments. Just FYI, 1/64" toe on an 18" wheel is equivalent to 0.01 degree. Most, if not all alignment machines are capable of reporting it.

I never personally saw a car with 1/64th, just my co-worker who has signficantly more car knowledge than me mentioned who briefly mentioned about incremental adjusments which I didn't even know they existed (I had initial impression it was analog adjustments at first as in no incremental) when I was asking about adjustments in general.
Oh I see, that's probably why the alginment tech told me they align the car to hundredths which their equipment is capable of, which shows up in my alignment report in the earlier posts in the camber and caster readouts. They are also correcting the geometry to fine tune as well which shows up as even cambers on right and left at the front.
