Brake Noise

Brake Noise
I have an 08 with new brakes put on in July. I hear a squeaking sound when I initially apply the brakes. I took the car to Lexus last week for an oil change and had them check it out. They said the pads looked new and the rotors were fine. Anyone else have this problem? What is a solution?

I have the same issue. I took it to the dealership and they stated this was "normal". How come it wasn't normal when the car was new? I think they are using something different in the pads or rotors as I have had both replaced before I started noticing the same problem. Would love to hear if anyone else has a fix for this. BTW I have an 06 IS350.

I have the exact same issue (06 IS350). It only happens when pulling away from parking spot or at low speeds. It is very annoying to me. SA at Sewell said this was normal for the car. I really hated that answer.

i had the same issue on my 07 IS350 w/ 76k miles on it. i tried re-greasing the shims/etc..but the noise would come back after a day. i eventually found TSB L-SB-0015-09 that deals w/ front brake squeak on IS/GS models. I ordered the new anti-squeal shims (part#04945-22152) from Sewell and followed the procedures on the TSB. Cost me 40 bux and no noise for about 3 weeks now.

This.
Also, as I mentioned I learned from lobux in another thread, it could be that your rotors are too clean, which apparently can cause some squeal when they rub against your pads. A couple of hard stops can transfer some pad material onto the rotor and fix this if that's your problem.
I think brake squeal is a fairly common problem among IS owners. I had it to for a while, and it just went away on its own after some time.
Really? I didn't know there was a TSIB on this. Do you have a link? I don't see it in the 2IS FAQ, either.
