Agreed, way to clean up those brake calipers...smart move with the top hats too! King Phillip already asked the tough question about the wheels, glad you're planning on cleaning them up in the spring! Are you keeping them the same color? Once again, great thread...you've helped me out a lot! Thx again!

thank you!
Yeah i want to stick with white. I dont wanna go with any crazy colors, i feel like the white looks clean on black. Im just not too sure with how i want to redo these. Powder coating would be the best bet, but i dont have spares and it might be a bit pricey. but then again i dont really want to paint them a second time.

I love the color. Good job on the upgrade. Check the inner barrel of the rims for brake fluid tho.

So about the mounting bolts, did you just go to Lexus and ask them? Do you still have the part numbers available by chance, because I have a set waiting to be mounted behind my chrome TT wheels but i think im missing a few of the bolts. Also, what SS lines did you end up chosing? This was a great write-up, deffinitely bookmarking for future ref.

I have the part numbers of the LS bolts in my build thread, too lazy to look.

Sorry to bring a tread back from the dead, but does anyone know the torque setting for the 4 Torx bolt that holds the caliper together?

Thanks in advance!

I've been searching for the same thing with no luck. I know the two caliper mounting bolts are 87 ft-lbs and the brake line union is 29 ft-lbs. When I pulled the two halves of the calipers apart, the four bolts on each were in there incredibly tight. Too tight for steel bolts into aluminum, as far as I'm concerned. (One of the rebuilds I sent back was so tight, the bolt's threads had been stripped.)

I tightened them pretty snug upon reassembly, but didn't want to overdo it and destroy the front half of the caliper... I seem to have some brake fluid seeping out around the lower o-rings, though, so maybe they really do need to be torqued in the 60-70 ft-lbs range?

The brake fluid has stopped seeping out of the calipers the past two days. Is it possible that over-filling the reservoir creates excessive pressure that the o-rings (between the caliper halves) allow through as a failsafe? I can't really picture it working that way, but I'm not sure how else to explain it... We filled the reservoir pretty full when bleeding/flushing the system, and it's still a bit above the MAX line after several days of minor seepage.

I'd still be curious about the torque specs for the four bolts holding the caliper halves together, not only for peace of mind but in case I need to pull them apart again to check on those o-rings.
