I want to put bilstien shocks on my GS400 and want to know what a good price is for them and where I should get them? Thanks for any help.

I paid ~$580 for mine. Bought from RMM. You might also check with Steve Ganz (pm SUPRATRD).

You'll like them!

Great thanks for the info. I am waiting for a local shop to call me back on a price, now I will know if it a good one or not.

I paid $456, to my door. Looks like you can do a little better. You will like them. And they last for the life of the car.
Edit; Why would any car selling for $50,000 not have lifetime shocks? On my 98, the shocks were quite soft by 30,000, and not that terrific new.

My local shop is giving me the run around so I have been checking out the web sites above. It looks like there are two kinds of shock for the GS400, Bilstein Sports and the HDs, which kind do most people go with?

Are the prices for Sports and HD the same? How much ride difference can I expect between HD and OEM? I guess I have to ask the last question due to WAF . Thanks

The Sports are stiffer and are designed for lowering springs (~1.5 inch), like Eibach, Intrax, H&R, etc.

The HDs are designed for OEM length springs to firm up the ride a bit.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

BTW: judging from what people post, I overpayed (bought at RMM). Oh, well... I still like 'em, even at 150 more than everyone else!

Vlad - According to bilstein you are right. The heavy duty is for use with stock springs while the sport are for use with shorter springs. My quote from shox.com on Jan. 2 is $419 for a set of four Sport shocks for the GS and $639 for the HD shocks.
