Default 2006 is250 struts

Hello all. My 2006 is 250 has 137k on it. Dealership says the left rear strutt is locked up and recommends replacing the 2 rear struts, Cost is 375.00 a piece with install 1295.00. OUCH.. Can anyone recomend a close to stock strut to use? Don't need a performance strut!

look in the 2is classfied section, and once in a while you'll come up on someone selling a set of OEM shocks.

seeing as how you only need the rear you could go with some tokico blue shocks. you can get them shipped to you for under 240

Hello Jack,
I need to do the same on my 2007 I have 128,000 on mine AWD is 250, and need rear struts. Did you find anything. I have done a lot of searching and can only come up fronts struts which are made by KYB. They don't have any rear struts available which I find crazy. There are struts out there if you have a rear wheel drive. I called Lexus in my area and they want 272.000 per strut! If you could let me know when you find something or let me know if you ended up going through your dealer that would be great. This way if the rear struts aren't out there, then I will just have to bite the bullet and get them through the stealership!
thanks
Matt

Just to clarify... Our cars do not use struts, it's shocks.

On Sewell Lexus with CL discount, each shock is $319.21 before shipping, so one can save money if wanting to go OEM.

Tokico HP (aka Tokico Blue), is also a good alternative. This is because for X-Package/F-Sport package, the sport shock suspension is made from Tokico customized to Lexus specifications. Whether it is stiffer than OEM is unknown since Tokico themselves did not know when I asked.

If going either route, one may want to actually change to the OEM sport spring to get a good match.

Hello Sango,
I had a part store call Tokico yesterday and they exclude the AWD on all struts and shocks. Even on the ebay site they state they don't make them for the AWD IS 250. They are only available for rear wheel IS. I also researched KYB and they only do the front on the AWD in which they are calling struts for the fronts. I am assuming your car is rear wheel drive?
If you know an aftermarket co that makes struts for the awd i would appreciate the help.

I have the RWD but I used to own the AWD which a family member now uses.

There are most likely other members who are more familiar in finding aftermarket shocks for AWD.

The Lexus factory OEM shock and sport shock are made from Tokico. These are only available through Lexus dealerships therefore one cannot buy it from Tokico directly, which is most likely why they said they do not have it because they are most likely assuming their retail line.

If you want to stick with OEM, I would recommend you go buy it from Sewell Lexus with discount and have a specialty alignment shop install them for you.

Thanks Sango,
I will check out sewell. My mechanic who isn't the dealer was having a hard time finding them through his network, so he said if i can find them he will put them on.
thanks for your help.

4853080285 is the one. It's for both right and left for AWD.

Thanks Sango,
I created an account and listed Club Lexus and received a great discount!! Thanks for the help and adding the link. Don't want to spend that much, but at least its cheaper than what the dealer quoted me for replacement shocks!

Hi, I just bought my 2006 IS 250 with 80,000 miles on it and there seems to be a little knocking even when I hit small bumps. Does anyone know if this might be me needing to replace my shocks with 80k miles? Thanks

^I'd first check your sway bar end link to ensure they're torqued to spec. I've read a few thread where members were mentioning a clunk or thud sound while going over bumps/dips in the road. Was simply a loose end link.

GL!
