I'm assuming the factory the SC400 was intended to be more performance oriented than a stock SC300. Hence the bigger brakes. The SC400 was also more pricey so it was another option that separated it from the SC300.

Hell an SC400 with a manual swap is damn near an actual sports car LOL.
Its confusing though, SC400 auto and SC300 auto, 300 has same heavy auto trans plus heavier motor, yet SC400 is still heavier. The bigger brakes can't be THAT much heavier. Did they put extra sound deadening or something on the 400's? Maybe it's that electric assisted steering rack?

Little things that ad up to make an SC400 weigh more though..
Nakimichi Sound System + 12 CD Changer weighs more than factory.
That's probably like 20 pounds extra in sound system alone.
Electric assisted steering rack is probably another 5-10 pounds. I honestly didn't know the SC300 didn't have the electric assisted steering rack?

I think revolution brake might make a bracket to bolt some wilwoods on , I know they make them for the fronts as I have the kit but I thought I saw another forum member that said they had also purchased the rears. If no one else does I will call and ask in the next few days

Iron blocks are not that much lighter than an aluminum counterpart, all else being equal. Look at Ford's modular family for an apples to apples comparison. A V configuration is just a larger more complicated beast in comparison to a inherently more balanced and simpler inline motor.
LSx motors are modern day old school freaks of nature. Super small footprint and really featherweight. A 7.0 liter v8 that weigh less than 350lbs wet and make well over 500hp, all while being SIGNIFICANTLY smaller and lighter in just about every dimension than a 4.0 liter Toyota motor that squeezes out 240hp.
The chassis are dam near identical otherwise besides a few options. Soundproofing is the same for both. 300's were also available with the same sound system and the weight penalty is not that significant. Even 20lbs would be an overestimate. Steering racks are identical. It's that UZ itself that weighs it down.

That thread that was linked in the 1st page, guy used the IS300/GS300 rear calipers with a flimsy looking bracket, I've seen brand name BBK's come with some solid looking brackets, you think that guy's IS300 rear caliper swap is safe?

Everyday I look at this thread hoping the topic would go back on track to the OP's question.... Lol
I was hoping to try it out, 'cause I got my LS brakes polished, and it's already on, so I wanted to match up the rear but we all know the OEM brake calipers look hideous weather you paint it or not, plus the IS300/2nd Gen GS is a 2 pot. I'm just very unsure with the bracket made and how it's set up....

Please read the OP. We're trying to expand our choices here besides buying a $300+ rear brake calipers that only contribute about 70-80% of braking power. And plus it's not that easy to find.

^^^LS430 rear calipers were mentioned, they indeed are nice 2 piston calipers, but would not work because of how they mount onto the LS's spindles, it would take a really complex/strong brackets to make it work.

Yeah, I think the purpose of the OP on this thread was for an easy swap besides the TT. I can't think of anything else that's 2 pot that was around the same era as our SC's. But soon as I have time to hit up the junkyard I'll grab me some IS300/2GS 2 pots and make a DIY if I am able to do it.

Actually the SC4 rotors are 12" and have a bigger brake pad than the IS/GS
IS/GS rotors are slightly bigger than SC3, theyre 11.6" and actually have a smaller pad than the 1 piston SC4 caliper
And then of course we know the supra TT has the 12.6" with a beefy pad
