Hermosa,

I guess, that is what I meant. Nobody sells the joint/boot cover to my knowledge. If you find the part, I have a ball joint press.

pcmw you have lost me with this 2nd metal sleeve you are describing.
I have looked at the link you posted and the bushes are exactly the same as mine.
All the SC's have the exactly the same bushes - JDM and US.
My old rubber bushes look exactly like those in the link.
The new rubber bushes are exactly like my old ones - in every single respect - steel bits and rubber bits.
I'm looking at the photos in the link, my old bushes and the new bushes and I can't see any difference!
I still don't know what you are talking about! - arrrgghhh !

Here is a pic of my front bush removed - outer sleeve intact - looks same as rear bush.

http://www.users.bigpond.com/pgscott...s/oldbush2.jpg

The bushes have a metal outer sleeve and a metal inner tube. The suspension guys removed my bushes whole from the arms with an air chisel - the old bushes look a bit mangles but the whole bush came out. They only burn them out and then cut the outer sleeve in really bad cases.

The bushes are $370 Aud - about $212 US - no idea about frieght or other charges getting them (taxes or duty?) - have to talk to Andrew about that stuff.

Exclamation Woah! Whotta plot twist!

I've stopped watching my daily soap operas and instead am avidly following this exciting thread, which I think should be renamed "As the Bushing Turns..."

PERRYinLA,

LOL...As the bushing turns..... hahahahahahah

I guess the only REAL way to tell if Peter/Andrew's bushings last is to check back in TWO YEARS. Since they are built to stock specs, without the stock reinforcements, but still using the stock design.... hard to say what will happen. I say they will last a long time before failing...but past stock....I don't think so.

Peter,

Thanks for your comments and reply's here. This has become a good discussion. I would still like to try a set, maybe this summer I will find someone around here that needs them so that I can give them a swing and installed.

Take care.

Oh,another thing(which I'm sure can be argued)is that the control arm can be serviced without separating the balljoint. You support it with a jackstand at full lock.
I just tend to use what I know works well from an engineering/testing/racing background.

Xavier,

It is most definitely not rubber. In fact, when lex400sc did Hermosa's mess of an install, we used a torch and pliers to bend it out. When I did my own, I used a large flat head screw driver to separate it from the sides.

Default doesnt really ring a bell

http://www.pbase.com/xavier/bushings

on the pic you can see that its there on the front bushing, and gone on the rear bushing.

why was it so hard? i popped mine out pretty easy. but i replaced the whole thing, i done see anyreason why you would want to leave the sleave in the arm? i know its so the bushing would fit, but why not design the bushing to fit the arm without the metal sleave in the arm?

did i make sense of confuse everyone?

in otherwords make a bushing like the Rubber ones in UZZ32

Hermosa,

Rich and I weren't going to tell you how that fire axe got involved in your bushing upgrade. It just had to be the next logical step after the air chisel, jack hammer, arc welder, plasma cutter, and baby oil.
