Default What is it?

I went through the old l-tuned box and found it in it. Was something not installed in my setup? What is it?

Thank You
Sergey

Thanks. Another set of questions?
1. Is it part od l-tuned package?
2. What does it do? Protects what?

Default It IS a tumor!!! Psych!!

Hey there GS300.ru,

It's a "bump stop". Basically it's a rubbery/foam mechanism that's normally located in your strut shaft. This little baby stops your the shaft in your strut from hypo-extending. This ensures a smooth ride with stock cars. Now, in your case, you have lowered your car and the "normal" thing to do is to cut your bump-stop in half to compensate for the reduced strut shaft travel that comes along with lowering springs. I'm not sure who lowered your car, maybe they forgot? Does your ride seem "bouncier" than normal? OR the other option is that the L-Tuned springs come with its own bump-stop. Do you have all 4 or is it just 1? If you only have 1 laying around, i would be afraid...VERY afraid. Get it checke out soon.

Regards,

Kenny

If you do a bit of digging, you are bound to find the discussion here in CL, about "to install" or "not to install" the bump stoppers that come with the L tuned suspension. Most opted not to install.

yes, that's a bump stop. I have my L-tuned suspension installed with stock bump stops. I heard ( long ago) that the L-tuned bump stop doesn't fit well (too long, too stiff, sorry I forgot), therefore I chose to go with the stock ones.

Your reply is really appreciated.
As I remember there was only one of this guys in the package and it obviously was not installed. Is it possible that they left stock ones on my car? Please provide as much information as possible as I'm going to Seramonte dealership this week to discuss it. May be this is the answer for my steering stability problems.

Thank you very much

Stock ones are black....check it out on your car.

I left the black ones on mine...I have four of the yellow/off white ones like yours in the garage with my stock shocks/springs.

Default I'm not so sure...

Hello again,

I'm not so sure about putting the factory bump stops back on it without cutting it. The travel of the shaft requires more "room" in terms of the reciprocating stroke, thus, most people tend to "cut" the bumpstop in half. This normally fixes the "rough ride" problem. Now, as for the black bump stop, I've never personally seen any black ones before. Only the yellow ones. I'm not sure about NOT having any bumpstops at all, because in that may causes a hypo-extension of the strut. And YES, your steering can be heavily affected if you don't install or not properly install these bad boys. and YES I am an engineer.

Hope that helps,

Kenny

Black color bumper stops are the stock design. Yellow color bumper stops are from your L-tuned package.

Most people here have found that the stock black bumper stops perform/fit better than the Yellow L-tuned bumper stops. The bumper stops should have been cut to half to compensate for the aftermarket springs.
