Default Uneven wear on tires and the AWD system.

So here's the deal. I'm in the midst of deal with another member regarding a set of wheels and tires. One front tire has camber wear, the other doesn't. I don't plan to run any camber on the front wheels, and I also plan to get an alignment after the wheels are mounted on the car. Will the fact that one tire has camber wear affect the AWD system? I assume that it would, specifically in a turn, but I'd be interested to know how it would be affected.

Also on a somewhat related note, if I were to turn Traction Control and Vehicle Stability Control off, would that make it easier on the AWD system? I usually have it off in good conditions, but it stays on during inclement weather.

Help!

It does sound like your alignment or sub-frame/geometry is off that it will need to be corrected in an alignment when you get your new tires.

There probably is an effect but unless it's going to affect the rotational speed by a few percent (I forgot the number), then it's not going to have an impact to the AWD system, but ideal the tires should be wearing between right and left similarly.

You may consider changing the front bushings because the stock bushings are too soft which has typically caused the inner wear as the bushings have too much deflection under braking.

Oh sorry, I should mention the tire wear was not caused by me. I'm planning to buy a set of wheels from another user on here, and one of the tires he has mounted on the wheels has camber wear. I'll look into the FIGS bushing anyway though.

Also the tires are 235/35 front, 275/35 back, which results in about 3.5% of difference between front and rear. Is this significant enough to cause a problem? I don't plan to track the car at all, but it is my daily driver.

Hmm, the one tire with camber, questionable.

I would say, it's best for you to ask this question in the AWD Stagger Mother thread about the rotation difference.

I don't think 275-35 works you wanna be under 3% but closer to 0 is better. Just cause 3% max doesn't mean you wanna be close to that %. With awd you want even tire wear all around or it will cause issue later on down the road. That why they recommend if you blown one tire depending on the wear you'll need to replace all four.
