They quoted $900 installed. is there an alternative? Could I order my own ball joints somewhere else?
I came across these online:

Would these work for both the upper and lower?
what you need is the lower ball joint assembly. I replaced mine 4 months ago and it was a very easy install if you have done suspension work to your car before.

Also it looks like someone on eBay is selling both assembly's for the passenger and driver side.

My IS350 is doing the same thing. It's pulling the right and I already did an alignment a few days ago. Could this be my lower ball joint too?

It could be many diffrent things bad ball joints, worn iner/outer tie rods, worn tires, uneven road, worn bushings. The only read way to tell is to jack up the car use a crowbar and start to wingle suspension parts to look for parts with excessive movement.

Taking it in for a second look with a local shop. I'll get them to show me everything now that i know what to look for. The eBay link looks good for the Lower Ball Joints, so thanks for that. I'll just need to determine if I need the upper as well and where to get them.

You can go with the spc for the upper and then get it aline after words to correct it.

Wow so I took it in for a second look at my local garage. Checked all ball joints both sides, and.... Nothing!!! They are fine. Mech at dealer must have made some BS up about it being the ball joints! All I needed was alignment! This is a dealership that I know the parts manager at, so I usually get hooked up and taken care of nicely. Must have got a new mechanic who doesn't normally touch my car? Either way, glad I didn't jump the gun on ordering parts. Thanks all for the posts, mi sure they'll be useful down the road. Guess my money can be spent on something else
