99-2000 Guys Chime in about Brakes?
Ever since i been reading about 98+ SC400's, I read that 99's have a large diameter Brake size. Now my question to you guys are is it as big as LS BBK? or smaller?

iirc there is no change in sc400 calipers throughout the generation. 98+ sc300s got the slightly larger 2 piston calipers from the sc400. they are still 2 piston and smaller than ls or supra brakes. but in the end none of this matters unless you plan on racing as both will engage abs just as fast. tires are what stop your car.

Put it this way: 98-00 SC300's got the bare minimum they needed for a sporty luxury coupe-- brakes the SC400 already came with from 1992+. The earlier 1992-1997 SC300's had smaller front brakes than rear brakes-- and even 92-97 rear SC300 brakes are smaller than 98-00 SC300 rears.
Personally I don't think that's enough for spirited driving, especially if you've felt the brakes on a stock 1995-1999 LS400. Even on that big body they feel worlds apart from any stock SC300/400/Soarer brakes.
LS400 spec front calipers and rear SC400/98-00 SC300 brakes should have been factory on every SC/Soarer

you don't have to do alot of research, pick up a set of ls400 brakes for the front and rotors.
The stock brakes start to fade quick after a couple of spirited stops, but better pads can help some with that.
you may also need larger wheels to clear the new brakes depending on which wheels you have now.
Most of us run ls400 or supra brakes, and the ls400 brakes will get you 90% of that extra stopping power you need for half the cost of the supra brakes. I have LS400 brakes on there I agree it should have come factory, they really make the car brake with confidence, and they seemed to be much lighter than the factory brakes to me which also = weight savings.

You'll need 17" diameter wheels for LS or TT brakes and an offset comparable to TT front rims.

^^ This. I have TT calipers on my car and I consider them worth it to me but LS brakes are significantly cheaper and will give you most of what you are looking for. LS's or TT's are lighter than stock calipers despite their increased size. The main advantage of TT calipers front and back are possibly better heat dissipation on the track over the LS four-pots (debatable) and a much more varied selection of high performance pads. Most don't need that for the extra cost.

I'm about to do a BBK on my SC300, and I was wondering if i should upgrade the rear brakes too?
I'm going NA-T, shooting for about 350 to the wheels, and I decided on LS400 brakes, but don't know whether to do the rears too.

Aren't TT wheels the same offset as SC wheels?

The Supra TT are 2 Pot and the SC400 rear brakes are 1 pot I believe. Up to you what you want to do. But having LS400 fronts with S300 rears is too big a difference IMO.

those TT calipers are so darn expensive though. You think keeping the stock SC300 rear brakes would be a bad idea then?
