Default LCA fore and aft LCA bushing movement.

ishootstuf's post about LCA ball joint failure prompted me to check mine my entire suspension.

Everything felt nice and tight.

What shocked me was how much fore and aft movement there was on the LCA bushings! I used a screwdriver to push them back and forth and they moved almost 1/2" total! That explains why my steering wheel shakes every time I hit a bump. The bushings themselves seemed fine, not much side to side movement at all, but fore and aft?

I wonder if I can slide in some delrin disks to stop the movement? I know it sounds ghetto but I don't want to replace them with stock rubber, and I can't find poly anywhere for the 97-00 SC.

It ain't bad even if you replace it with OEM. It's not like it went bad the first thousand miles of the car anyways.

I know its been a month since response but I am having a similar issue. There is a rubber stopper that Lexus has in their diagram that suppose to be (I am guessing) between the subframe and the bushing. Im guessing that is like a spacer to stop the control arm from moving back and forth and stopping the slack/play. Am I right on this?

That's what I read on one of the thread. The rubber stopper (part#48657-24020) between the bracket and the LCA. I am ordering this today, for my 98 SC300. Hopefully, it arrive this Friday in order for me to proceed with the front LCA replacement.

I just got off with Lexus 5 min ago. They said you need that rubber stopper because it acts as a spacer to stop slack/play/movement. its needed for the alignment as mine is somewhat off. I just replaced my bushings and when I went to get an alignment, the guy said i have space inbetween the bushing and the bracket. That what the rubber stopper is for. I am ordering 4 of them today as well, and hopefully recieve within the next 2 days.

Nice find! I wonder if we can use more than one?

Do you have a link to that thread?

edit: Found it. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sus...arm-diy-2.html

I'd like to see one made out of Poly. I wonder if there is a universal puck that can be modified?

I just checked my car. It has that rubber stopper, but it's just too soft. Unless we can use 4 on each control arm, I don't see how a new one can help. Mine looks to be in fine condition.
