Default $683 for front brakes?

Hello everyone! SO I was quoted that figure for new rotors and pads here at Northpark Lexus San Antonio. The service advisor mentioned that they were "updated parts" for the car now available. They weren't able to duplicate the grinding brake noise coming from my front left/drivers side. He also mentioned that my pads still had life on them. Hmmmmm.

Is that just parts or is labor included?

Your still getting ripped off. I just rotors (Slotted/drilled. Blanks are probably cheaper) and pads (lexus oem low dust) for a little less than $300

Parts and labor. Thought it was rather high anyway. I declined but now have to consider what do down the road.

That's how much I paid at my Lexus dealer. You can the parts for $300. I just didn't feel like diy and my pads were gone.

WTF.....you might as well buy a brand new kit for $700+ from sewell if thats the case....the solution to your problem is find somewhere else to do it other than a dealership...because at that rate you'll be broke

Firstly, new rotors? How old is the car? What was the explanation for new rotors? Normally new rotors for front oem are around 150 each. Pads depending on what type pad could be 80-100 for the set. So your quoted in excess of 230 for install. Thats a bit high. As a good mechanic could do something of that type job in around 1.5 hours. Depending on labor cost, 80-110 an hour they are extremely high for labor cost. If your breakdown in parts are how I put it.

Exactly. It looks like it's time to consider somewhere else to go for this work. Any recommendations for the San Antonio area anyone? THank you all for your input. It's great to know that the community here is supportive. The advisor I dealt with was trying to discredit this forum as not being "lexus authorized information" or something along those lines. I quickly provided some evidence on how Club Lexus forums have been my place to go for answers and solutions to my problems.

I would recommend doing the job yourself. It is something that can be done with basic hand tools and in a couple hours even with having to jack the car up and crawl around on the ground. This is something I always do. I have not paid for a brake service in almost 10 years.

brake noise? Have you tried cleaning the pads and shims yourself? I had a lot of brake squeal once, but I just cleaned up the pads and shims and its gone. Changing front pads is pretty easy on this car, even easier if you have a 350

He's probably a hater who drive a Corolla because his credit won't let him get a Lexus lol i kid....it's because he know that all 6 million plus members of us are going to tell you to slap him a walk away with that foolish price...

There has to be at least a couple Lexus Tech that have personal shops in that area...check the San Antonio sections

My brakes were doing the same thing and they were still good, after changing them no more noise! My guess crappy pads!

Unless there's something actually wrong with the rotors just buy OEM low dust pads under $100, swap em yourself, and call it a day.

Same here, last time I actually needed some one elses assitance with a brake job was when I had to one of my wifes rear drums to be cut.
