Default Trimming bumpstops when lowering?

So this may be a noob question but I'm curious if trimming the bumpstops when installing lowering springs is the proper way to install the springs? I just received my H & R lowering springs today. I'll have them installed within the next two weeks. I have an 09 AWD. I'm not new to the modding scene but I am new to AWD. I had a modded 350z before my IS. I'm going to take my car to a local shop here in Virginia Beach. So would I be crazy to address trimming the bumpstops before the install or leave it in the hands of the professionals and assume they know what needs to be done? They specialize in AWDs like WRXs/STIs and EVOs.
