This happened some time ago but wanted to share.
My power steering pump had a leak.
It caused my alternator to fail because of its location under the drips.
I cleaned the unit many times and while under the car with a flash light in subdued light while up on jacks someone moved the wheel back and forth while I inspected searching for the origin of the leak.
It is really difficult. I would have enjoyed younger eyesight but I do the best I can with what I have. Having a bright flashlight is a must for me. It was very difficult to find the leak but I believed the units seals were the origin.
You have to reuse your hose fittings.
There is a silver color one that fits into the new one, it has an O Ring. You want to replace this O Ring it is for the Return Line.
I did not and the rebuilt pump leaked like the old one.
I finally saw that the silver fitting on top was the origin.
A 99cent o ring was the cause.

My O Ring that needed replacement is the Return line. Obviously you must keep the Alternator dry to prevent it from shorting out/blowing the Diodes. It is a solid State Alternator and it is a common issue on these cars for the alternator to expire as a result of the power steering unit leaking. When appearing underneath the car it is very difficult for me to find where the leak was coming from, I told you its was from the return line, the silver cast piece that slides into the housing located on the top side. That o ring leak I could not find from underneath. I only realized it when I removed the silver colored cast piece (where the actual hose attaches to) and inspect the O Ring which was cut.
