mini write-up on HAs vs HR/Bilsteins
well I've been dealing with the rubbing issue for the past 2 days so, I haven't had much time messing with the damper settings.
At the lowest setting on the HAs, it feels a bit more comfortable than my bilsteins. Currnently running 0/1 settings. The other setting I had was up at 11/12 which was way stiffer than the bilsteins. I didn't have time to find at what setting it would match the bilsteins. One thing that I want investigate futher is the ratio of front to rear dampning. I will play around with the settings and try to give write-up on what happens. I'll try my best to quantify the results.
but so far I really happy I made the switch. I should have listened to some folks and gone straight to the coilovers. The drop is where I want it and I can tweak out my handling to suit my mood (once I get the EDFC of course).

Another 20" Dronell CA-05's?! Looks like we are wearing the same uniform
I have those 20's on my ride for 10 months now and never have any kind of rubbing problems. I thought +38 offset is just perfect for our GS. Maybe it's the weather in N. Cali. is different than TX

Hey BLVD king - make sure you are familliar with the silver color change from 99 to 2001. I see that you are looking for a 2001 and they have a gold overlay ontop of the silver compared to the staight silver in 98/99.
Good luck with your search!

thanks guys for all the comments...i just got back from a trip to LA and lemme tell you that I bottomed out a couple of times on the 5. But I had 4 adults in the car plus a trunk full of luggage. Man the wheels were tucked by about 1/4 - 1/2 inch.
I thought I raised it enough for the trip but I guess not enuf. One other thing I was thinking of to help was to increase the damping. I wonder if that would have helped with all the weight in the car? I was running 2/3. But I didn't want to make the ride harsh cuz I was driving with my folks and my aunt.
Oh I wish I had the EDFC during the trip. I could have fiddled with it and found out. It was too much of a pain to get to the back dampers cuz the trunk was full of luggage. Guess you know what my next mod will be

hahah 2/3 was so soft man, i am running 7/6 (tried 8/6 and 7/5) as well, and i have had tons of stuff in the car before, but i never bottom up my car before on the same route (i know what route you took, hehe). maybe you should try that, the stiffness helps, though i think the springs determines more

still think you know the route i took?
but back to the bouncy issue. so you're telling me you had about 500-600lbs of stuff in your car...remember I had 3 other ppl riding with me plus their luggage. It will be hard for me to test this without the EDFC. I don't usually drive with my car packed like that. At the height it is right now and just me and a full tank of gas, I don't bottom out at 0/1.
