Default Pros and Cons of Coilovers

What are some pros and cons of installing coilovers?

I'm thinking about buying some; however, I wanted to know what I would lose and gain from doing this.

Thanks!

If you have the f sport package you lose the ability to use sport+ on the drive mode selector.

Really you're negating the whole adjustable suspension in the F Sport, which I think provides a bit better ride across all drive modes.

Do you know if its just shock adjustment? Or a complete adjustment in the whole steering column+suspension?

coil-overs are nothing but a hassle really. When I had it, I didn't bother "adjusting the height". I just left it at the desired height and never touched it again. Every time you adjust the height, you have to get an alignment.

No one does it though. Then they cry about poor tire wear and how crappy the tires are.

Pros: Flexibility Con: Cost, loss of Sport+ mode. Coilovers are not a hassle. Once you set the desired height and alignment, you don' t need to touch it again. Not sure how it can be a hassle if you "never touched it again". However, it's there if/when you want to change the height which you can't do in a non-coilover setup. Perfect if you want to track your car. I'm sure there are people like me who does it and get an alignment depending on where I take the car.

If you don't want to lose the Sport+ setting you can get springs. Drawback will be it might take a few sets of springs to get the height you want. Most likely the boat I am going to be in.

I'm waiting for springs. You will only need to buy one set if you wait for the right set to come out that fits your needs.

The only downside to springs is the ride is slightly less comfortable than stock and coilvers. Also the stock shocks wear slightly faster.

As long as you drop it an inch or less the ride won't be too bad. Once you go more than one inch then you start losing ride quality.

I think everyone will have their own opinion on any car mods but I honestly don't think there was any cons to me upgrading to the RSR coilovers.

Pro: Car looks badass, handles great, easy to adjust ride height, still maintains good ride quality

Cons:

But doesn't just changing the springs put strain on your shocks? Which eventually cause them to blow?

eventually, especially if driving on rough/bumpy roads. But lowering a lexus is for "the look".
